HAILEY KINGSMAN
Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80's movies? I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window. I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey. I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me. I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me. Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life.
Every night I say a Prayer

Height; 5'6
Weight; 115
Tattoos/Piercings/special marks; Pierced ears, freckles, scar on her knee, nasty scars around her wrists
Likes; computers, coffee, take out, mei fun noodles, comic books, reading, WoW, sci-fi, Star Wars, medicine, movies, cartoons, music, Adam (he never treated her like a freak even when she'd have freak out episodes seeing ghosts or when she was a total coward), Chris (her little protector, always trying to help her out), Dean (her Batman. She knows she owes him her life in many many ways)
Dislikes; Bullies, the unknown, not being in control, Star Trek (except Spock and Data), cooking, Yuppies, standing in line, feeling like she's going crazy, fighting, Leviathans, insects, camping, the outdoors, not having modern bathroom facilities, not having her uber computer anymore, Croats
Hopes; That somehow civilization will get back on track again, That nothing will happen to her group of people, that she'll live long enough to at least fall in love once.
Fears; Pain, death, imprisonment, Leviathans, Croats, Demons, monsters, that the wolves in the camp will turn and kill them all
Habits; Chews her hair, stumbles over words and turns into a total dork around hot guys.
Special skills/Powers/Abilities; Hacker skills, Medical skills, Highly Intelligent (Big Bang Theory intelligent), multitasks like a mother, can be hyper-focused on tasks, coffee skills, Pop culture/Geekery,
Emergency Medicine - She is in school to be a Doctor and has already earned her Nursing Degree. She is an excellent person to turn to for help if you need patching up.
Computers - Yes, she's that girl that is a total nerd that was teased and mocked in school with her glasses and her nose buried in her laptop. Mocked on MySpace and whatnot. But those years of Geekdom paid off and nothing says revenge like hacking a bully's Facebook account and declaring them gay to the world with wonderfully Photoshopped pictures of the Quarterback in drag to back it up. She can work wonders with her hacker skills and can cover her tracks magnificently.
Coffee - Working in a coffee shop tends to teach one some skills as a barista. She can make a mean Mocha Latte and brews the strongest espresso this side of the country. Comes in handy with keeping awake to study and work two jobs.
Bibliophile - She loves to read. Like REALLY loves to read. She has a collection of sci-fi and fantasy books that could rival many Barnes and Nobles. Notable favorites are JRR Tolkien, Raymond E. Feist, Frank Herbert, Douglas Adams, Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, Arthur C. Clarke, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Anne McCaffrey, Anne Rice, Charlaine Harris, and Carver Edlund.
Latin - A LOT of medical jargon is in Latin. It's kinda hard not to know it when you are studying medicine. Nerd that she is, she is fluent in Latin. Has memorized the demon banishing chant learned from Chris in the camp.
Recently everywhere she goes she's seeing people that aren't there. Speaking to people that no one else can see. To her they are real as anyone else but in reality they are the spirits of the dead. That's right she's a Ghost Whisperer to put it in pop culture terms. More traditionally she'd be called a Medium.
Some ghosts have the ability to materialize for anyone to see, particularly vengeful spirits or souls that are not at rest, even some of those never materialize to the human eye until they are exactly their revenge (Dead in The Water S1Ep3, After School Special S4Ep13). Some remain invisible to the human eye but are there (Death Takes a Holiday S4Ep15). Then there is the countless accounts of a spirit not being seen with the naked eye but caught on EVP recordings or captured in some form on video or in photographs yet still invisible and inaudible to the human eye and ear.
Unfortunately she can see them. Just as she would see a real, living person in clear 3d technicolor. In theory she would also be able to see Reapers and other beings that exist on the spectral plane of existence such as people astrally projecting but not truly dead. Though to her knowledge ,which is extremely limited at this time, she isn't aware that she's seen any of that.
At this time she has no control over this gift. They show up when they want to and where they want to. She can't call them, she can't dismiss them.
Style preference; She usually doesn't care too much about her appearance. She knows she's no goddess and that she never will be so why bother with all the fro fro girly stuff. Secretly she'd love to look amazing but will never admit it. She dresses comfortably, functionally in whatever is handy and wears her hair long, most times pulled back into a ponytail. She's a little OCD about hygiene and will always be clean if she can help it.

Hometown; Seattle, WA
Mother; Martha Kingsman (Adopted)
Father; Aldo Kingsman (Adopted)
Siblings; N/A
Others; She considers Adam Milligan, Chris Milligan and dean Winchester the closest thing to family she has, sad huh?
Current location; On the road for the time being
History; Some kids have those pictures of themselves as babies being held in the hospital by their mother sand fathers. Not Hailey. She was adopted at the age of two by the Kings, Aldo and Martha. Also was one of those Silicone Valley computer programmers that started out in Seattle, Washington and the couple were not able to have children. All in all she was blessed in her childhood. Spoiled rotten as an only child, given anything she could ask for, all the latest gadgets and techno-geekery that would make her squeal with happiness. She didn't go out and pitch the ball around with her dad, she sat in his office at their condo and learned how to decipher and reprogram various languages of computer code.
But as a young child and a teenager she was awkward with her peers. She was the girl in the braces and the glasses and unable to speak to most anyone. She was clumsy and shy and of course teased mercilessly. Kids would make a huge production out of bowing and curtseying to her and calling her Your Majesty just to draw attention to her and make her squirm when all she wanted to do was crawl under a rock and die.
She kept to herself, made straight A's, and lived under the scrutiny of it till her Senior year. At the last big dance for all the Senior Graduates. The braces came off, the contacts went in and her father had her chauffeured there in a black stretch limo in a Vera Wang gown. No one recognized her. That was the same day that the Facebook page for the Quarterback that had made her life hell went public, outting him (even if it wasn't true, everyone thought it was!)
From then on the Revenge train was sweet, using her hacker creds to payback every bully that ever hassled her. A girl has to spend her summer break somehow. Her reputation in Cyberland just grew more that summer, wreaking havok on rivals in Wow and tampering with certain websites just for the challenge of it. Even going so far as to hack into the FBI database and skimming around, finding something that shocked her in there and setting her on a path of searching. They had files on a Sam and a Dean Winchester. Those were characters from some of her favorite books!
College opened all kinds of new doors for her. She was able to be a whole new person. She put her past behind her and went to the University of Massachusetts, getting as far away from the people that had known her in high school. Adopting the persona of the cool, confident woman she wanted to be wasn't easy but she was determined if she was anything. She took the required science courses as an undergraduate for a pre-med direction, making her major in Nursing. She made Dean's List all four years. Graduated with a Bachelor's in nursing, taking the MCAT, and working at a local coffee joint while in school. But she has her eyes set on a Doctorate.
It was off to Med School and another job as a barista slinging java to sleep deprived people and the chic young crowds all the while still studying. And there she remains as she works on her PhD in Internal Medicine. But now slinging java isn't her only job. She got a job working part time in the ER at Chicago Mercy Hospital as a nurse. The networking and job experience she is getting working as a part time ER nurse is pure gold for her career path. She still has a long road ahead of her for her PhD and medical license. Between the course work, the ER, and the coffee shop there isn't a lot of time for sleep, or a social life. But she eats it up and goes back for more.
Only lately has she been questioning her choices. When working on the graveyard shift at the ER she saw a man with extreme head trauma and other lacerations that looked severe walking down the hallway. His scalp was detached and bits of skull gone, revealing his brain. How he was still walking was a medical miracle but he was staggering and bleeding and looking right at her as he called over and over for help, saying his daughter was hurt, they had to find his daughter.
Being the professional she was she tried to go to him and treat him, to get him in a bed, which she did and get out of him where his daughter was. He'd told her that there had been an accident, a car has hit them that his daughter was still pinned under the car. He was frantic. She got on the phone called the ambulance service, called the cops, gave them address of the accident......only for them to report back, rather angrily, that there was no accident there nor anywhere else in the area that matched that description.
She went back to talk to the man. Maybe he was just delusional but all she saw was an empty bed, no blood on it, not a wrinkle in the sheets, the tubes and wires she'd hooked him up to laying there on the bed in the right places but.....there was no patient attached to them. She scoured the ER trying to find him, asking everyone about him and getting odd looks. No one else had seen the man. It was just too bizarre.
When her supervisor pulled her aside at the end of the shift and asked her if someone had been telling her of cases they'd worked that had stood out, or if she'd been studying old case files from the hard copies, or if maybe if she had any problems in the past sleep walking, she shook her head, not understanding. He went on to explain that the man she described to the police, the accident she'd described to the police....all matched a case they had had in the ER before. One of the doctors coming to work, his daughter in tow to be picked up by her mother, had been struck be a car in that intersection. His daughter had died instantly, crushed as the car ran her over. He had been brought into the ER with severe head trauma and blood loss and hadn't made it. It had happened twenty years ago on that very night.
She was floored. How could she have known that? There was no way. She had no explanation. Her supervisor chalked it up to exhaustion, ignoring the surreal quality of the details being so spot on and ordered her to take the next couple of days off, to rest.
One incident she could maybe write off too but similar things kept happening to her. People showing up out of nowhere disappearing. She is convinced she is losing her mind. She tries to ignore them. Tries to pretend she can't hear them but they don't seem to be going away and people at work are beginning to gossip and speculate.
Eventually after having a bored Friday night and hacking into the FBI database she ran across a curious finding about two wanted fugitives that ha the same names as people in one of her favorite book series and they were brothers as well. Further snooping found even more interesting crimes such as grave robbing, desecration of corpses, etc.... It got her curious. Further research turned up that there really was a Sam and Dean Winchester and not only that but also a Bobby Singer that lived in South Dakota...just like her books!
She took a leave of absence and decided to investigate. What she found blew her mind. She actually met Sam Winchester (le sigh!) but found out he was not only married but a dad! Weird stuff happened at Bobby Singer's house. Lots of it. Enough that it scared the heck outta her and she went home.
She never told anyone what she had found but the information set her on another quest of finding out as much as she could. She began scouring the papers in the area for strange deaths and accidents, checking them out like a hunter but never trying to take down the baddie. She was too much of a coward for that. She did meet a few other hunters and learned that there are more things in heaven and earth than she ever dreamed. She learned about her own ability, that she wasn't insane like she'd feared but that she was a spirit medium.
The fall came soon after she acquired this knowledge. When the world went to hell she packed up and tracked down one of the hunters. They led her to Dean Winchester's camp where she found herself overwhelmed at first but her knowledge of medicine and technology soon made her a valuable member. A contributing member of the camp. She wasn't a fighter and was even worse as a survivalist but she managed to find her place among them anyway.
One little boy took to her immediately and she grew fond of the tyke. He was always helpful and strangely comforting. Despite their age difference she looked on him as a friend, as family. Her awe of being a starstruck fangirl over Dean wore off soon. But she gained a new kind of hero worship and respect for him. She called him Batman cause despite the odds he always managed to pull their fat out of the fire. His brother Adam, Chris' dad was one of the only ones to treat her like a person instead of a freak. He was there when she had her first in-camp episode of seeing the dead and in multitudes in all their horrific, bloody glory. He didn't look at her with disgust or distrust. To the contrary, he treated her normal, like everyone else and did little things to help her without saying a word about it, like helping her to carry heavy things. He always seemed to be near and though he never spoke, his presence seemed to ward off unwanted attention from some of the more hostile of the camp's inhabitants.
When their camp was attacked it was Adam that helped her to escape alive, taking on a trio of Croats that had her surrounded. Chris was there with her after she got away and helped her to run, to gather what was needed as they fled the camp.
On the road she stayed close to them, as in physically close, putting her tent up (with assistance from Chris cause she had never camped before) near theirs, staying within eyesight of the three if possible. She silently witnessed a lot of their pain and suffering but never intruded or imposition-ed herself to butt into their business. With her scientific knowledge she also became something of a scout, hacking into satellite feeds from the make shift laptop she'd wired together and powered from various sources. She made reports to Dean when she found things and they would bring her back things she might need for the med supplies or her computer when they went on raids into the towns they passed to scavenge. She never went with them. Chris would sometimes bring her back little special things he had heard her mention she missed or liked such as books, or comic books, or coffee or chocolate.
And I feel this empty place inside
